MOTS-C

MOTS-C is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA region. It has become an important research subject in mitochondrial communication, metabolic homeostasis, cellular stress responses and gene regulation. Preclinical studies have examined its relationship with glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, AMP-activated protein kinase signaling and adaptive responses to metabolic stress. MOTS-C is useful for experiments exploring how mitochondria communicate with the nucleus and influence whole-cell energy regulation.
